Blogging, Social Networking, Writing

3 Months Into SEO, Blogging, and Social Networks. My views.

Before I started trying to run some blogs for fun back in November, I had no clue what a social network, SEO, or “stumble” was. It was funny because many of my friends, and my “partner” would ask me, “Why bother? There are already a million blogs out there already…” Well, my answer for them is the same answer I try to give anyone who loves something. You don’t do it to compete against anyone. You don’t do it because it looks good, or will make you money. Yes, all cliche. I can say with pride that I post stories, and music, and videos Read The Rest

Getting Blog Traffic The Nutts Way Part 1

Blog traffic isn’t a science, it isn’t even an art. You see so many sites saying do this or do that. Now I have done an experiment since Christmas, I have only written one post about blogging since December and a couple of odds and ends that don’t add up to a post altogether. At the time I stopped I was getting between 400 and 2000 visits a day. But what has it been like since Read The Rest

Seven Weird or Unique Things About Me

Posted on 23 April 2008

Its not often I get tagged but when I do I try to do them (none of them up until now) So when I found I was tagged by Mark over at Stoneman’s Corner I was interested and decide I would give it a go. By the way he was tagged previously by Techfun So the stuff about plain old me 1: I hate blogging with a passion 2: I gave up a career in Professional Football to join the Army 3: I have no qualifications to my name besides carpentry and joinery. Makes getting a job in the computer industry impossible. Despite having my own compter business. 4: Every child below the age of seven I meet Read The Rest

Stumpedia Offers A True Human-Powered Search Experience

Posted on 11 April 2008

The field of “human-powered” search engines already seems to be too crowded with Mahalo, Wikia Search, Sproose, and ChaCha (which has now decided to focus on the mobile search frontier). All of these, however, still use bots, algorithms or a staff in one way or another in order to function as desired. Stumpedia, on the other hand, claims to be “human-powered” and actually seems to be the only such engine to be completely at the will of its users. It’s homepage states that this is a ”social search engine that relies on human participation to index, Read The Rest

CHILD aged SIX treated drink-related illness

Posted on 10 April 2008

A CHILD aged SIX had to be treated in casualty for a drink-related illness. The primary school pupil was one of 175 underage drinkers admitted to just one hospital last year for booze problems. The shocking figures emerged yesterday in a study of young drinkers in Hull, East Yorks. Almost 80 per cent of under18s in the city believed they drank too often. A fifth of its under25s were found to be borderline alcoholics. The 175 kids needing treatment were recorded at the Hull Royal Infirmary. Wendy Richardson, Hull’s director of public health, said of the figures: “I’m shocked, as Read The Rest
