In case you hadn’t heard, blogger have done something strange and changed their commenting system.
I know I’m doing this from a wordpress blog, but it is starting to turn peoples heads away from blogger and onto wordpress. I do have blogger blogs thats why I’m posting this. It also alters blogging everywhere.
Whats Changed?

I’ll become a lonely Blogger’s blogger..

This is why I’m so glad I now host my own wordpress blog on my website. I will certainly being posting an article on my blog about this issue and if other bloggers do the same, hopefully Google will get the message and reverse this policy.

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering what had happened. I guess this is part of their taking over the world…

I think this would be a good moment for alternative search engines to enter the scene .. anyone remember the European thingiee? Or Wikipedia’s announced search engine?

This is why I host my own blog. I don’t want anyone to have any power to tell me what I can or can not do with my own blog.

I noticed this a couple of days ago on some blogspot blogs I read. This is the stupidest thing Big Daddy Google could have done for all the reasons you mentioned. I’ve dugg this post and hope others will too. What are they thinking???

Your all right I am waiting to see what Google do next, is this just a small part. Perhaps they won’t count links from any blogs to other blogs.

This is just idiotic. I was already disliking the commenting system on blogspot and now this.
I will probably be commenting less on blogspot blogs. Not worth the hassle.

openID feature is great and I’ve enabled it!

Got to post this soon… This is the second time Google harassed me.
And all within two weeks.

The recent events with Blogger, makes me really ponder the decision to go to Word Press. I feel it is like Microsoft how they tried to monopolize the Computer World. Sadly, these companies forget about the consumers they market too. The dollar signs start to shine brightly.
sad….

Google is showing it’s true colors.
What do you expect from a company who tries to gather all the worlds information, even going so far as to find what you look for on the Internet and what you have on your desktop?

hey chris!
great post man! stumbled it! cool stuff!
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:41 pm
Thanks for writing on this Chris! And thanks also for the link to my article on it. I added another digg here for this. Glad to see that you are getting a bunch of diggs on the article. The more noise we make about this bone-headed move by Goggle, the more chance they will get the message and fix their mistake.
Thanks again!

Adam — Bet we do. I’ll be one of them. Good-bye Blogger. Hello WordPress!
December 5th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
I wonder if Google is getting the message yet
December 5th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
thats too bad. Although to be honest it was only a few weeks ago that i figured out how to do this anyway…
December 6th, 2007 at 9:25 pm
Very very bad! After all that commenting, not being able to let the blog owner where you’re coming from is just… unspeakable. Please make a bigger fuss so Google will reverse this.
BYE!

Yeah, so horrible.

It has nothing to do with creating new google accounts. Most people already have open ids from their other services. Blog admins can enable it now if they want, and it will be rolled out to everyone shortly.
December 7th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
So what? You can still leave a(ny) link using HTML tags in the comment. Not sure if that works the same way or not. And no one will ever make me move to wordpress over this.
December 7th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Thanks for the links Marco, when the post was written it wasn’t part of the setup.
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:53 am

That’s ridiculous. I view that as a step in the direction of regulating the internet… (sigh)
