I thought I would try PayPerPost the other day to see what this blogs ‘Real Rank’ was. I know all the fuss is about Google removing PR from blogs using PPP so I had no intention of adding a any posts to this site. But I was interested in their new ranking system and how this blog held up.
At first I was expecting it to get refused because it is under 3 months old (under 2 to be exact) and it came as no suprise when I got an email saying that my blog had been rejected. What suprised me was the reason.
I Quote
Unfortunately, we cannot accept your blog at this time because of its format. The entire posts must be visible on the page with the posts themselves as well as the main page of your blog. Because your blog is truncating posts on the main pages, much of the posts are cut off. Please change the format to show the posts in their entirety, and then resubmit your blog. In the meantime, feel free to use PPP Direct and Affiliate tools while you work on meeting the requirements of our Marketplace!
My first thought was ??
Basically they want me to change the layout of my blog, something that I have spent hours setting up and they want me to go back to a basic blog.
So I took a closer look at what they wrote to me.
The entire posts must be visible on the page with the posts themselves as well as the main page of your blog
That didn’t make sense to me, ok I get the entire posts bit, but they want everypage I have (including search results??) to show entire posts. I only show entire posts on the actual post page. I have my reasons.
- It looks better in search results
- It looks better in categories if only part of the post is shown
- I can fit more posts onto a category page
- My Blog doesn’t need reading by scrolling down for 400 miles to see the posts.
- I don’t have endless ‘next’ and ‘previous’ buttons to get through. If I did show whole posts I would have to limit the amount shown on a page creating endless clicking
Because your blog is truncating posts on the main pages, much of the posts are cut off.
I count my main pages as the front page, forum, advertising, single posts and contact us. The front page is showing only parts of the posts because that is the layout I have chosen. Single posts show the whole post. It takes one click from the mainpage to open a full post.
Please change the format to show the posts in their entirety, and then resubmit your blog
So they expect me to spend an age setting up a new template to how I like it. Remove all ‘More’ tags I have added. Alter any sidebar changes I have made and redo them in another template. Seems a bit much when my actual posts are shown in full. It shouldnt matter what my blog looks like from the front page, its what you see in the post you are looking at that matters.
In the meantime, feel free to use PPP Direct and Affiliate tools while you work on meeting the requirements of our Marketplace!
Oh!! So I can still make you money and show your logo on my blog. I don’t mind changing my template as it wouldn’t take me long. But what about those that are new and spent days or even weeks getting their blog to look right. What about those who paid someone to do it for them, will you give them the money to have their blog changed.
After having that email I have responded to them that I reject their rejection of my blog and I have outlined why. (Still waiting for a response)
I thought I would take a look at their terms and see what else a blogger has to change.
- Interim Posts. Your last non Opportunity-related post must have been within the 7 days immediately preceding your Opportunity-related post. After any break in blog activity of 7+ days, interim posts, that is, posts between Opportunity-related posts, submitted on the same day as your paid Opportunity-related posts will not count towards this requirement.
You can’t go on holiday, be sick or have a break from blogging.
- Private Posts. Interim posts must not be labeled “Private” or locked out. Interim posts must also be of a reasonable length, at least one paragraph, 3-5 sentences. If your Blog’s interim posts lack quality PayPerPost may terminate your account.
They tell you how to write a post that you put up at anytime
- Inline Ads and Links. There are to be no third party links, ads or other detractors located within the sponsored post.
So I can’t have a digg button, vote buttons for other things. No google ads, no text link ads. I have to go through my setup and remove certain features for certain posts. What if I use a plugin that does it automatically?
- Unique Content. Identical or nearly identical Opportunity-related posts will not qualify for payment under the Marketplace and may result in termination of your account.
Dam there goes my cut and past idea.
- Use of Software. Software may not be used to create posts or otherwise place PayPerPost code in a repetitive or not original fashion
You want everything looking organic, yet…. read your own terms
While I am on this one isn’t posting repetitive.
- Holding. Attempting to ‘hold’ a post by submitting to the ‘Take this Opportunity’ screen but failing to provide a written post to the requirements of the Advertiser will result in immediate suspension of your account.
What if I fell ill or died after I had taken the opportunity.
- Inappropriate Content. Posts submitted to Marketplace Opportunities may not include or support: excessive profanity, violence or racial intolerance, illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia, pornography, adult or mature content, any other content that promotes intolerance, illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others.
Ahh I can’t show a picture of a canabis plant. I have seen plenty of blogs that are accepted by PPP that have most of the above.
- Nofollows. Nofollows may only be included within the required link of a post, or additional required links, if the Advertiser chooses the nofollow option during Opportunity creation. Unless an Advertiser chooses this option, required links are not to have nofollow attributes within them.
Er… Im not HTML literate, how do I stop my plugin altering just one post.
- No Follow Blogs. Blogs with “nofollow” or “noindex” tags (example: ). Blogs must not include nofollow tags in the robots meta tags, though Advertisers may request nofollows with their required links.
Can you tell me which of my tags can’t be nofollow, or shall I remove them all and open my admin area to the search area.
- Photoblogs and Vlogs. Blogs whose posts are primarily composed of non-written entries (such as Photoblogs, comics, or vlogs).
Missed opportunity, I take it youtube won’t be joining you soon.
- Third Party Content Blogs. Blogs whose entries are made up entirely of song lyrics, quotes, poems, online quizzes/surveys, information directories, or other such lists that do not constitute written entries.
Isn’t a written entry words that you have typed, I know a couple of popular quiz blogs that have other content every now and then. Are you saying they are not worthy. (Cue Wayne and Garth bowing)
- Community Blogs. Blogs with more than one contributor/author.
Sorry you can’t have a guest blogger, in fact why are you making friends at all.
- Blog For Money Blogs. “Blog for money” community Blogs such as BlogCharm, BloggerParty and WritingUp.com.
Isn’t your blog about making money.
I gave up after that, I don’t think its fair that a company can tell you how to set up your blog, when to post, what to post, how you post…….. the list goes on.
They want posts to look organic and natural to the blog, yet they will all look the same, will stand out because you don’t have the normal extras on the post that is on every other post you write. Then people wonder how google have noticed the blogs that have the paid posts. Its right, they don’t look right and should have a natural flow.

I noticed that the last time I logged in - they have rejected this blog for several reasons (including a couple that you mentioned), and I’m not even trying any more. I am happy to put the PPP buttons on the site so that those who wish to can sign up, because lots of people have blogs that comply with those rules. However, on this blog at least, I’m not putting any PPP posts.
